Phantoms
Art is often inspired by other artists, and for this series I've let music be my inspiration. Each painting is developed Alla Prima (single session) while listening to specifically selected albums; Phantoms of the musical influence may be vividly evident or subtly sit beneath the surface of each work. Whether direct or subliminal, overt or unobservable, music is a pillar of each painting's construction.

A Soul's Phantasmal Journey
I've chronicled the journey of a soul, primarily influenced by Dante's Divine Comedy and various works by William Blake such as the Marriage of Heaven and Hell. This series of abstract figures continues to expand and has been in development for almost a decade.
Innocence and Experience
Primarily influenced by William Blake's book of poetry and art, "Songs of Innocence and Experience". This set of mixed media drawings shows the two states of the soul, one of Innocence and one which the soul has matured through Experience.
The Blue Period (Abstract Figures)
Each of these paintings took years to complete due to the process involved. I would paint one figure at a time, let it dry for a month or more, then add the next figure. All seven pieces were created simultaneously and I would rotate between canvases as the most recently painted figure dried. Painted from live models, these are some of my largest work at 16"x20" and were created 2016-2018.
The Upside Down
A series of paintings inspired by the Netflix series, "Stranger Things," the paintings are a series of diptychs that juxtapose an almost kitchy "pretty" version of the paintings with a dark and decaying "upside down" version.
