“Jungle Queen” / 2025 / 8x10”
The Jungle Queen IV is a riverboat built in 1971 in New Orleans that is currently operating in Florida. While boating on the New River and Fort Lauderdale canals (which is filled with hundreds of million-dollar homes and luxury apartment high-rises) I photographed the ship and reflected on how its name is still quite fitting, although the Florida coast is a much different type of "jungle" than in decades past. Compositionally I tried to minimize her presence, showing her cutting quietly through the waters, the Jungle all around her.
